Built in the mid 1990’s the Ur'aro Store was established to service the population of Kalumburu Community in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. Its management structure strengthens the ability of the community to manage its own enterprise through an effective governing committee, ensuring it is commercially viable and giving access to affordable and healthy foods, groceries, clothing, white goods and general hardware.

Located on the banks of the King Edward River only 15km from where it empties into the ocean, W.A.s most northerly community; Kalumburu has an abundance of history, culture and scenery to share with visitors. For thousands of years the area has been home to aboriginal groups with mainly Kwini, Cambra, Kulari and Walmbi lineage, it has also inhabited by Benedictine Missionaries for more than a century.
The area offers rugged scenery, rockart, exceptional fishing, breathtaking sunsets, mission architecture, cultural tours and camping facilities. Permits are required, call us for further information. |
